Weekend Hinderance
Does anyone else feel like they make good headway during the week and then come Saturday morning everything is thrown out the window? I know for me and my family we go into relax mode come Friday night. Even the dishes don't always get done as we do dinner and movie night, so by the time evening comes we don't want to do anything... So we leave it for Saturday morning. But we know there's a high chance it won't get done. The kids get up and watch TV for a couple hours on Saturday and my husband and I want to be in relax mode and the last thing we want to do is chores!
By Friday last week I was completely on top of washing, I felt good about how my week went, and then Bam! The weekend arrived. Hardly anything got done. Monday morning arrived - my least favourite morning - and dishes were still all over the bench from Sunday, and I had to get breakfast ready, and Mr 3's kindy lunchbox packed to take him to kindy for 9am. It was a mission, but I was adamant I wanted the kitchen done. If no one else was going to do it then I was and I did it for myself, no one else.
Monday was also my Washing Day. I didn't complete it. My attention was pulled in so many directions I honestly struggled to get washing from the machine to the line, then off, folded, and put away. Washing is still waiting for me to complete, but I am not allowing myself to do any negative self-talk or believing that I failed. I did my best. I didn't get to complete my top 3 tasks but that's ok. Everyone was fed, everyone was looked after, and everyone had clean clothes on.
A BIG bonus for this week so far: Mr 3 has decided he doesn't want to wear nappies to kindergarten so has been in big boy undies yesterday and today, and has only had ONE accident! The kindy teachers are amazing and are practically doing the toilet training for me seeing as he is at kindergarten 20 hours a week! They are so diligent at checking him and encouraging him to use the toilet consistently. I am so super proud of him! I almost have only one child in nappies now and Miss 10 months is in cloth nappies now so I don't have to worry about the huge amount of landfill that I have contributed to recently with two in disposables.
Anyway, I had better go complete yesterday's washing as quickly as I can so I can get dinner ready. My husband and I (along with a couple friends) are off to see Rend Collective tonight in Christchurch. They are one of my favourite bands and it is their first NZ tour tonight! I'm so excited! I am also excited to be child-free for a few hours ;) Miss 10 months is practically always with me so this will be a lovely refresher for me.
How are your daily tasks going? Are you focusing on one or two new habits to improve, or are you a pro at this house stuff?!
